National Institutes of Health Office of the Director

Customer Testimonial

“As the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of the Director (OD) Network Operations Data Center Manager, I take the maintenance of these Computer Room Air Conditioners seriously, knowing the full extent of work stoppage and potential for equipment damage that would result in the event of a serious failure.  In the first years after these systems were commissioned, the OD experienced numerous issues ranging from loose electrical connections/blown fuses, Freon gas issues, improper airflow, icing, Glycol pump failure, Glycol leaks, etc. It took a number of technicians many visits to get the system stability and performance issues resolved. As a result, I personally attend all service and maintenance activities, ask questions, and provide direction to ensure that work is completed per NIH OD standards.

RM Thornton’s technician, Aaron Havenner, arrived on-site, assessed the units, discussed past performance issues and set out on task.  When advised of an issue with one of the humidifiers, Aaron arranged to have a replacement humidifier canister delivered to him so he could complete all repairs in one visit.  He asked questions, took notes and made sure that both the inside and outside units were documented in RM Thornton’s database.  I have observed a lot of service techs over the years, Aaron demonstrated an attention to detail in his work rarely seen in technicians today.  I appreciate his dedication and hard work.  Job well done!”
