R.M. Thornton, Inc. is pleased to be beginning work with Gilbane Construction http://www.gilbaneco.com/ at N.I.H. on a large steam tunnel piping upgrade project. The project will involve large diameter high pressure steam piping and critical shutdown/tie-ins to existing infrastructure steam system. The mechanical engineer is Affiliated Engineers Metro DC, Inc., Rockville, MD.

We think that outsourcing both our CAD and Pipe Prefabrication to multiple sources gives us a competitive advantage. We have started teaming with two to three outside companies who are experts in CAD and prefabrication to provide us with these services. By optimizing their resources, whether it be 15 CAD operators or 50,000 sf fabrication facility, only when we need it, we can eliminate the problems of under or over staffing, downtime, and ROI over a larger base of business. We can pay a monthly retainer and still be ahead of the game
